It’s a New Year and I am off to a great start so far. I just started my new job as the contract photographer at the University of Toledo. I will be covering all kinds of sports and events that happen on campus. So to start my first assignment at the new job I shot Rhode Island who is 12-4 against Toledo who is 2 and well not so good.

Finally, basketball season is half way over! I am starting to get burned out with basketball because everything is starting to look the same and I have shot the same feature photos about ten times now. I have shot all levels of basketball, from NBA to JV. Having covered such a variety of competition levels, I have seen some crazy dunks to turnover every time a player gets the ball.

Tonight was one of the best basketball games I have shot so far this season. One reason was the Savage Arena will reopen after 345 days of construction. I have seen all of the renovation about every month since they started way back when. Second reason is first home game for any sport is always packed with fans and family and people coming out to support the Rockets.

This was a game that I will be telling my childern 20 years from now. Now the Univesity of Toledo who lost their last 3 games and went into the Big House being a 17 point under dog and defeating the Universit of Michigan. Toledo was the first Mid American Conference team to beat Michigan. Being part of the football team makes it even a cooler experience, I didn’t dress for this game but I did travel with the team to the game. Being on the team gives me opportunites that most other photographers can’t get. I allowed to shoot in the locker room, I am allowed to stand right in with the team and just try different thing that most other photographers don’t get.
