The Ohio State vs Michigan rivalry is know as one of the best match ups in college football. Ann Arbor and Columbus are only 190 miles apart. The two teams have been playing since 1897 and Michigan is currently leading the series 58-47-6. But the past four years, Ohio State has had Michigan’s number. Michigan can’t get over the hump and beat the team down south. Going into the game on Saturday everyone was expecting a closer game with a lot less scoring, but after Ohio State lost last weekend to Michigan State, Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes need some style points in hopes to make it back into the College Football Playoff.

I have been attending the Ohio State Michigan game for over ten years and I have only missed one game and that was last year, so it felt good to be back on the sidelines photographing the big game.

Special thanks to Chef Drew, whom is the last person I would have expected to see in Ann Arbor, for the pedicab ride from my parking spot to the media entrance at the stadium.

Here are my favorite images of the game. I hope you enjoy.

A couple weeks ago I got a phone call from Sports Illustrated photo editor Chris Chambers to see if I was available to head down to Columbus to shoot the Minnesota vs Ohio State game focusing strongly on Ezekiel Elliott. Focusing specifically on one player is extremely fun and also challenging at the same time. Lucky I have spent a lot of time down in Columbus this season so I know a lot of Ezekiel’s pregame rituals which always helps.

Pro tip: Always do your homework about a player, watch clips of his running style online and look at other pictures of him you or other photographers have taken to learn about his facial expressions and his on field emotions.

Thanks to Chris Chambers again for the opportunity to produce images for Sports Illustrated. Here are my favorite images from the shoot.

Following the Toledo Rockets game. I jumped in the car and made the 2 1/2 hour drive to Columbus for the primetime game between the Penn State Nittany Lions and Ohio State Buckeyes. I wandered around the stadium prior to the game to see what kind of pregame features I could find before heading into the stadium.

Once inside the stadium my goal was to make a picture that represented some of the studio images Ohio State was using for promotion prior to the game.

See the above and below image of Braxton Miller.

Here are some fun stats from the image shared on social media.

Braxton Miller Instagram: 29,170 likes

Brutus Buckeye Instagram: 4,605 likes

Ohio State Sports Instagram: 8,927 likes

The image was also the top image shared on twitter and Facebook under trending topics.

NCAA Football: Ohio State at Michigan State

There is nothing like a good Big 10 Conference battle between ranked teams. Ohio State was ranked #13 going into East Lansing. Even though the temperatures where in the low 30s, the sidelines weren’t moveable I walked away with some photos I was extremely happy with.

NCAA Football: Virginia Tech at Ohio State

Last night I kicked off sixth year covering college football and the Virginia Tech at Ohio State game lived up to the hype. Unranked Virginia Tech traveled to Columbus to face the #5 Buckeyes who lost senior quarterback Braxton Miller for the season due to a shoulder injury.

I witness an amazing sunset, a LeBron James sighting and high tempo offenses battle it out. Virginia Tech’s quarterback¬†Michael Brewer handled the 107,000 screaming fans like he practices in the atmosphere ever day.

I am about to board a flight to Tampa to shoot the Carolina Panthers at Tampa Buccaneers games, so enjoy the photos.

NCAA Football: Big Ten Championship-Michigan State vs Ohio State

Following the MAC Championship in Detroit, I headed over to Indianapolis for the Big 10 Championship between the #2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan State Spartans. Everyone was expecting Ohio State to come into the game and take away any chance Michigan State had, but Michigan State came to battle. They wanted to show the entire country they deserved to be in Indy.

The game was loud and full of intensity which made for some awesome photos! Enjoy!

Ohio State finally hosted a worthy opponent, Wisconsin game into the horse shoe ready to play. It was a solid game where both teams had big plays but Ohio State defense was able to hold of the Wisconsin offense to open Big 10 Conference play.

It was such a big game even LeBron decided it would be a good game to check out! Enjoy the photos.
