For those who are frequent readers of my blog and follow me on Facebook and Instagram know that I am around hot air balloons a lot. There is just something so magical about hot air balloons that I just can’t describe.

Four weeks ago local balloonist Jake Tyler contacted me about being part of a committee to bring the Glass City Ballon Race to life! We spent weeks and hours contacting companies for sponsorships and donations and in a very short time we put together a great event!

Over the last two weeks I have been working with the Toledo Mud Hens documenting the transformation of outfield at Fifth Third Field into a grass mini-golf course. The idea originally came about when sports turf manager Jake Tyler  thought it would be fun to make a grass mini-golf course. This was an easy decision since the grass is going to be ripped out due to the Toledo Walleye playing two outdoor hockey games this winter at Fifth Third Field.

Here is a good mix of photos over the past week.

Many of you may know that I have a little obsession with hot air balloons, if you have followed my blog, facebook page or Instagram account you have seen photos of other balloons. After getting home from the LeBron James Welcome Home Party around 12am. I had a 5am wake up call to head down to Findlay for the Findlay Hot Air Ballon Festival.

The morning light made for some beautiful pictures of the unique and different hot air balloons.

With 32 days until Toledo Mud Hens Opening day, sports turf manager Jake Tyler doesn’t have much time to get the grass perfectly mowed and the dirt soft. So Jake, had to figure out a way to melt all of the snow in the infield so he can get to work. So why not cover the infield with the tarp and blow hot air into the tarp to melt all of the snow.

With the current air temperature being 12 degrees and inside of the tarp being 72 degrees, which caused the snow to melt 4 inches in just 3 hours.  It’s something you just don’t see to often which made for some interesting pictures.

Another post from a hot air balloon, friend Jake Tyler recently got a new balloon so my self and my fiancé Stacy went for a ride Saturday morning. I am usually a fan of doing aerial photography around sunset but during sunrise gave me a whole new appreciation for early morning photos!

This is from Stacy (someone who hates flying)

“If you’ve ever been hesitant about going up in a hot air balloon, you shouldn’t be worried! It’s nothing like you think it is ! So smooth, you feel like your floating, and you never feel like your descending! It’s amazing!”

Enjoy the photos!

Over the last two months I have been heavily focusing on aerial photography. I have done two helicopter rides getting different aerial photos of downtown Toledo and the surrounding areas. Over the last few months I have become good friends with Jake Tyler who is the head grounds keeper for the Toledo Mud Hens. And he mentioned he owned a hot air balloon, I have been bugging him over the last few weeks about getting me up to experience another ride in the sky.

The day has finally come! The Toledo Mud Hens will host the Louisville Bats to open the 2013 season in downtown Toledo! Just like any city with a MLB team, the whole city basically shuts down and heads downtown to to bars to drink with friends to kick off the summer!
