The winds of change for brick-and-mortar retail continues to blow, as Amazon Go makes its way to the Windy City.

E-commerce giant Amazon Inc. opened the doors to its fourth cashierless concept, Amazon Go, in Chicago on Sept. 17. Located at 113 S. Franklin St., it is the company’s first Amazon Go outside of its hometown of Seattle, and sits on the first floor of the complex where Amazon’s Chicago’s office is located.

Chicago’s Amazon Go offers a product mix of pre-made sandwiches, salads and snacks, in addition to traditional convenience store fare. Some items are prepared by Amazon off site and by local companies like Fairgrounds, Farmer’s Fridge and I Love Sweets and delivered daily.

For the third week in the a row covering the NHRA tour I ended up in Joliet, IL for the Route 66 Nationals. Covering drag racing three weeks in a row really pushes your creativity and challenges me to makes different images from the week before.

People think I have the greatest job in the world. Getting paid to travel all over the country to photograph sporting events. Little do people know that I usually spend so much time at the stadium I don’t have time to check out the city or the night life, so when I get a chance to go on an actual vacation its the best feeling ever!

I don’t spend a lot of time in Southern California, but my girlfriend Stacy DeBruyne had a conference in Santa Monica, so I decided to tag a long and check out Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier along with what ever else I could find.

After spending six days in Chicago shooting the 2012 Fencing World Cup, I was preparing to leave for Omaha’s  2012 USA Olympic Swimming Trial. But before making the 400 odd some mile trip, I decided to hit Chicago’s Pride Parade I had been hearing about all week long. A few Google searches later I saw numerous pictures from Pride Parades world wide, and they were very scandalous! So I knew I would have to experience it for myself.
