Following the Toledo Rockets game. I jumped in the car and made the 2 1/2 hour drive to Columbus for the primetime game between the Penn State Nittany Lions and Ohio State Buckeyes. I wandered around the stadium prior to the game to see what kind of pregame features I could find before heading into the stadium.

Once inside the stadium my goal was to make a picture that represented some of the studio images Ohio State was using for promotion prior to the game.

See the above and below image of Braxton Miller.

Here are some fun stats from the image shared on social media.

Braxton Miller Instagram: 29,170 likes

Brutus Buckeye Instagram: 4,605 likes

Ohio State Sports Instagram: 8,927 likes

The image was also the top image shared on twitter and Facebook under trending topics.

Over the last few weeks I have been working closely with photo editor Chris Chambers at Sports Illustrated on a photo story about Ohio State’s Braxton Miller. Braxton was the former Buckeyes starting quarterback and two-time Big 10 Player of the Year, but after a shoulder injury and a few surgeries, it was in his best interest not to throw a football.

A lot of rumors were circulating that Braxton was going to transfer because JT Barrett and Cardale Jones were going to be battling for the starting quarterback job for the 2015 season. Only a few people knew of Braxton’s intentions to switch to wide receiver, and one of them was Cardale Jones. The two of them would work out in the indoor facility at 10pm to get extra reps.

Fast forward to August. Braxton Miller felt like a seasoned veteran at his new position and he is already picking up where he left off last year.

Be sure to pick up this week’s issues of Sports Illustrated to read the excellent article written by Peter Tham.

Below are my favorite images from the story.

NCAA Football: Virginia Tech at Ohio State

Last night I kicked off sixth year covering college football and the Virginia Tech at Ohio State game lived up to the hype. Unranked Virginia Tech traveled to Columbus to face the #5 Buckeyes who lost senior quarterback Braxton Miller for the season due to a shoulder injury.

I witness an amazing sunset, a LeBron James sighting and high tempo offenses battle it out. Virginia Tech’s quarterback Michael Brewer handled the 107,000 screaming fans like he practices in the atmosphere ever day.

I am about to board a flight to Tampa to shoot the Carolina Panthers at Tampa Buccaneers games, so enjoy the photos.

NCAA Football: Ohio State at Michigan

The Ohio State vs Michigan game is said to be one of the greatest rivalries in college football. The past few years, Ohio State has been dominating Michigan 9-1 dating back to 2004. Everyone though the 2013 matchup was suppose be a complete blowout since Ohio State has won 24 straight games in a row.  Michigan showed up to play, but fell short by one point.

Ohio State finally hosted a worthy opponent, Wisconsin game into the horse shoe ready to play. It was a solid game where both teams had big plays but Ohio State defense was able to hold of the Wisconsin offense to open Big 10 Conference play.

It was such a big game even LeBron decided it would be a good game to check out! Enjoy the photos.

Ohio State hosted Florida A&M. I knew heading into the game it would be a complete blow out but it was a good game to knock out a bunch of stock photos that I am unable to during a Big 10 conference game. It wasn’t much of a game but I was able to come away with a few nice frames.

After a long day shooting NASCAR the previous day, I had a 5:30am wake up call to drive to Columbus to shoot Ohio State Buckeyes football practice. My editor told me to focus on Urban Meyer interacting with players. For only being at the practice for 45 minutes I came away with a handful of images that I liked. I can’t wait for college football to start!
