Exploring Boston, Aaron Hernandez and Portland Maine

Boston is one of the few major cities I have never been to. Following NHRA in Bristol I would be doing the inaugural NHRA New England Nationals in Epping, NH. So I turned my trip into a mini vacation to Boston. I had no idea where to stay or where to where to go. I booked a hotel at Copley Square where the Boston Bombing took place. It seemed like the best location  for shopping, eating and sight seeing.

One thing I will tell anyone who travels always have a camera handy when walking through airports and when your flying. You never know what you will see!

Once arriving in Boston I met up with a coworker for lunch in Cambridge and on the way back to downtown Boston I got some photos of the city skyline.

On Thursday afternoon I got a photo call from my editor at USA Today asking if I would be interested in covering the New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez story that is starting to break. Of course I jumped at the opportunity, I love stories like this. But the only bad thing was I had no idea what was going on! I was on vacation so I really wasn’t following the story. The only thing I did find weird was the helicopter flying over the city for a better part of the day and I realized it was a news helicopter following Hernandez’s car.

Hernandez was supposedly meeting with is lawyers in the Prudential Building at the prestiges law firm Ropes & Gray. So I headed over there to check it out. A few other reporters where waiting outside of his office. Around 7:50 pm on Thursday Michael Fee came out of his office. I fired off a few frames and I was on my way.

On Friday morning I had to head up to Epping, NH for NHRA so I woke up super early to head down to Aaron Hernandez house in North Attleborough, MA to see what was happening. Not much was going on. I fired off a few shots of his house and a police officer guarding the area where the body was found.

After an awesome weekend covering NHRA in Epping. I headed up to Portland, Maine to see what all the hype was about.
