Portraits for Women’s Tennis Association in Indian Wells

Untitled-1

I was out in Indiana Wells, California working with the awesome crew at 800 Kamerman to create some stylized portraits for the Women’s Tennis Association.

Getting the opportunity to work one on one with professional athletes it very different than what I normally photograph. I am usually telling a story for editorial content for newspapers and magazines.

Being able to interact with the athletes for 10-15 minutes for each portrait, you get to see their personality, something that you don’t get to see when you watch them on television or shooting action photos of them.

We had a large tent outside of the stadium, where a giant green and blue screen hoisted into the air for shooting video footage. Trent Kamerman, chief videographer was shooting with a Phantom 4K Flex which shoots 1,000 FPS in 4K. Which is insane!

I had a little area setup off to the side where, I would shoot headshots, and they players would do some animations for tv and scoreboard graphics.

Myself and the crew worked for 13 hours a day for 3 days shooting video and stills. I was shooting with a Canon 1DX with a 70-200 and 24-70. Being able to work with Trent Kamerman, Nick Balogh, Hunter Hoopengarner and the rest of the 800 Kamerman crew made the long days seem short!

Thanks for a great shoot filled with lots of laughs and awesome memories!
