The Blog

I was on assignment for tech blog Gotta Be Mobile for Sunday Night Football game in Detroit to find out how good the camera is on the iPhone 6s Plus. I left my big DSLRs behind and captured the Denver Broncos vs Detroit Lions game with just the iPhone 6s Plus rather than the $12,000 camera and lens kit that I normally carries to NFL games.

Here’s a look at what the iPhone 6s Plus camera can do in a relatively dark setting where subjects are not standings still and waiting for me to press the shutter.

Being able to carry a 12 megapixel camera in my pocket is extremely impressive technology. Once I arrived at Ford Field to photograph the Denver Broncos at Detroit Lions I got to work creating feature images outside of the stadium to show the dynamic range the camera could capture with the cool clouds in the sky.

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns

After Marcus Mariota had a recorded breaking game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1. I was in Cleveland focusing on unique images of Mariota. He spent a lot of the game being sacked and hit in the backfield. Here are some of my favorite images from the game.

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Home Depot events department seeing if I was available to photograph a Grand Opening Event in Troy Township. They wanted a photography to document the event with a photojournalist view point. Well they were in luck, that is my specialty.

The photos below are inside of the Home Depot Distribution Center. It 1.6 million square feet and sits on 157 acres of land. My pictures just don’t do justice on how big and impressive the facility is.

I got the opportunity to photograph Parker Price Miller a 17 year old Sprint Car driver from Kokomo, Indiana. Parker was the POWRi Midgets Rookie of the Year in 2013 and is quickly making his way to the top of Sprint Car racing. Thanks to a friend to making  the introduction and allowing me to work with Parker.

Over the last few weeks I have been working closely with photo editor Chris Chambers at Sports Illustrated on a photo story about Ohio State’s Braxton Miller. Braxton was the former Buckeyes starting quarterback and two-time Big 10 Player of the Year, but after a shoulder injury and a few surgeries, it was in his best interest not to throw a football.

A lot of rumors were circulating that Braxton was going to transfer because JT Barrett and Cardale Jones were going to be battling for the starting quarterback job for the 2015 season. Only a few people knew of Braxton’s intentions to switch to wide receiver, and one of them was Cardale Jones. The two of them would work out in the indoor facility at 10pm to get extra reps.

Fast forward to August. Braxton Miller felt like a seasoned veteran at his new position and he is already picking up where he left off last year.

Be sure to pick up this week’s issues of Sports Illustrated to read the excellent article written by Peter Tham.

Below are my favorite images from the story.

Finally getting caught up on some blogs. Here are my favorite images from the 2015 Balloon Festival. As many of you may know, I am around hot air balloons a lot because a few friends in the area own them so I am always out crewing and taking pictures of them for their promotion.

Here are my favorite images.

Dick and Fran Anderson

A few months ago I spent the afternoon at the home of Dick and Fran Anderson shooting a portrait of them for the Toledo Museum of Art publication Art Matters. Dick and Fran have been huge supporters of the Toledo Museum of Art along with other local art.

The Andersons name is  pretty big name around Toledo and the grain and farming community. Dick Anderson is a family man and a farmer just as his father Harold Anderson was. Fran and Dick welcomed me into their home with open arms, they offered me coffee and wanted to know if I would like to stay for lunch.

NCAA Football: Old Dominion at Eastern Michigan

College football is finally back! With a lot of big games opening weekend, I was in Ypsilanti, MI covering the Old Dominion vs Eastern Michigan game for the Old Dominion Athletic Department. I really enjoy working directly for schools, it allows me to be creative as I want and I don’t have to worry about transmitting images on deadline. Just a few for the website and a small photo gallery.

Special thanks to Tina Price and Eric Bohannon at Old Dominion for hiring me to create some awesome images for them. Looking forward to working with both of you in the future.

Here are my favorite images from the 38-34 win over Eastern Michigan.

NCAA Football: Stony Brook at Toledo

Toledo Rockets hosted Stony Brook to kick off the 2015 season, but neither team walked away with a win or loss. After a 3 hour rain delay due to lightening in the area. The game was cancelled and won’t be made up. Stats from the game also don’t count. So Toledo will travel to Arkansas next week with a 0-0 record and no stats.

I wil say one thing, Coach Campbell did an excellent job keep his players focused even with all of the delays. It was a great mental test for the Rockets.
