On June 2, I headed up to Detroit to shoot the Boston Red Sox. I try and shoot games that involve bigger name players, as they seem to make the game a little more enjoyable.
The Red Sox sent starting pitcher Josh Beckett to the mound. Since he is one of the most dominating pitchers in baseball, I made sure I focused a lot on him while warming up and hanging out in the dugout before the game.

Then I wanted to focus on Dustin Pedroia, last year’s American League MVP. He has a good chance of winning it again this year.

I then turned my focus to David Ortiz, who has been in a huge slump, and getting a lot of media attention because of it.

Once the game started, it was time to focus on the action. I knocked out a few frames of Beckett and transmitted those in between innings.

The Tigers were really struggling against Beckett, hitting grounder after grounder.

The Tigers were playing solid defense, but the Red Sox were just hitting where their defense wasn’t. Brandon Inge made an awesome play at third and was still able to throw the runner out at first:

Then, towards the end of the game, Boston first baseman Kevin Youkilis got hurt and threw his glove.

The trainers immediately ran onto the field to take a look at his injury.

After the trainer took a look a his leg, he was off to the clubhouse to get further evaluation and treatment.

Late in the 7th inning, Detroit’s center fielder Curtis Granderson ripped a double into the outfield, putting an end to Josh Becketts’ no hitter. Below, Beckett watches the out fielder field the ball.

After Granderson reached base, the Tigers scored a run in, which was something to celebrate about.

My next blog will be the PGA Memorial Golf Tournament.
Here are a few clips of my photos published around the web after the game:
