Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I have been swamped with shooting and I finally have some time off so I thought I would catch up some some blogs. Two weeks ago I covered the NCAA Division I Mens Golf Championship at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
About a month prior to the tournament I started contacting schools to see if they would be interested in hiring me to shoot their team at the tournament. I got a few bites right away mostly from the top 10 golf programs in the country. USC was the first to hire me then Georgia Tech and Texas Tech. I waited a few weeks until the list of the teams that would be participating in the tournament so I spent a whole evening emailing every school that would be there. I think it was 30 or 35 teams.
I started getting emails back form the schools and before I knew it I had booked 12 schools to shoot.
Arkansas
Florida
Georgia Tech
Michigan
North Carolina
South Carolina
TCU
Tennessee
Texas A&M
Texas Tech
USC
UTC
Most of them wanted me to cover them as least one day at the tournament just to make sure they had photos incase they wouldn’t make it to match play. So Monday was a practice round so I headed out to walk the course so I could find good places to shoot from.
So for the next five days my focus was getting shots of every school from the list above. I got it done but I was getting to the course at 8 am and leaving at 7 pm. It a long few days but it was worth the payday at the end.
So when the final day rolled around I wasn’t shooting for any one in particular I just wanted to capture some solid stuff I could possibly use for editorial use later. Little did I know this would be the most exciting golf I have ever seen. The final two teams were Arkansas and Texas A&M. That took the stress level off a little bit but I knew I had to get some photos that would sell because know one cares about NCAA Golf.
The first 15 holes of the final round were just a blur… Tee off.. hit from the fairway… putt the ball in the hole…
Since it was match play all of the golfers were done because they score was so great the other team wouldn’t be able to come back. It was down to just two players one from Arkansas and one from Texas A&M. The gallery of people started growing which made it more exciting because people would cheer and chant. In the end Texas A&M would make an amazing shot 2 inches from the hole to help his team win! I am going to let my pictures do the rest of the talking.
Here are few stats from the week:
Clients: 12 schools
Pictures taken: 4,935
GB shot: 13.65 GB
Hours worked: 65
Miles walked: a lot!
Here are my favorite photos from the whole week. I hope you enjoy them.

Here are some of my pictures that I would around the internet.

That wraps it up for me! My next blog will be some of my favotire shots from the 10 MLB games I have covered.
