Play Ball!

After being constricted to shooting inside dark dungy for almost two months covering college and high school basketball it was time to get out side in the nice weather (well kind of nice) and shoot some baseball.

I head over to Perrysburg High School to shoot the varsity baseball game. My original plan was to do a remote some  were but I got there a little late and there wasn’t a really good spot to put it because most high school fields suck with shooting positions.

As soon as the game started I knocked out a few shots of the starting pitcher just to be safe in case the game is 0-0 in 7 innings.

Then I moved over toward the third base side and waiting for some good action or something but no luck. So I headed up to the press box that over looks the stadium to see if I could maybe get something decent.

So I busted out the wide angle and was looking to use the nice light to my advantage. I like this one because the hitter is on the on-deck and while he was swinging you could see his shadow in the grass.

I almost got the exact same thing just from a different angle.

Here is a nice overall of the field, it looks like a nice day but its 55 degrees with 15-20 MPH.

Right before I was getting ready head back down to the field, there was a hard hit to the third baseman  for an easy force play.

Back on the field i was looking for some features. I got nice a low behind the fence under exposed the picture by a few stops.

Then while walking around I saw a hole in the dugout and I shot the pitcher in his wind up.

I got this shot by shooting through the hole getting the yellow bricks in the foreground. Here is a wide angle of what I was doing.

Then I finally got some action when a Perrysburg player successfully stole second base.

Then I got this ok, nothing amazing shot of the umpire dusting off home plate between innings.

Perrysburg was back on defense.

I left in the 4th inning because the game was 1-11 and I had enough of the painful boring game. Hopefully when I fly out to California next weekend to shoot a weddings and shoot a Dodgers or Angeles game I will get some awesome stuff.
